A Milestone

Libby has taken another step away from baby towards kid. She is done with her "bubba" aka. Pacifier! I was not sure how she would deal with it being taken away because she was pretty attached. Friday night was the big night. I took her to the trash can and explained how it was time to throw it away. I did this with Anna and it worked well as she threw it away herself. Libby, on the other hand, started crying and shaking her head..."no, bubba...no, bubba". So I grabbed it and threw it away, "Good-bye bubba" I said...and she tried to bite me. Yes, I had an extremely mad child. But off we went upstairs and into bed. Now, when we did this with Anna she was more dramatic about it (I know, Anna dramatic?) She just kept saying that she needed her paci...please mommy! Libby has more of a temper. She was screaming mad and throwing herself around in her bed. So I left because I was not her favorite person. So she cried and threw a fit...for about an hour and a half. Now before some of you moms out there get upset and decide to call child services on me please know that we did not ignore her for said time. We went up every so often to try to calm her down...back rubbing, holding, loving. Finally, Matt went up and sang her a couple of songs and she quieted down and went to sleep. Yesterday for her nap she asked for bubba twice, then went to sleep and the same last night!! What a trooper! I am nothing but relieved to have this piece of paraphernalia out of my life. There is no stress that is comparable to when you can't find the paci!! I am now almost out of baby phase which, yes, is a little sad, but I'm excited to see what little person Libby grows up to be. The next and last obstacle...potty training! Ahhhh!!!

They sure do adjust quickly don't they. Pacifier freedom is the best. Now if only we could move on to diaper freedom....

Way to go! Tuff love is hard some days, but it does usually pay off and our kids are happier for it!

Have a good week!

Question: Can you throw a thumb in the trash? Sounds like a paci would be easier to get rid of!

Sounds like you did the right thing and she is getting used to it, although it's not easy!
