We bought this couch when we got married and it has been through a lot these past 10 years.
It has traveled the country with us, been spit-up on, pooped on (by my babies, not by me), spilt on, torn by movers, and had quite a few people sleep on it. But it is the best couch; so comfortable and loungy that I can't bear to give it up. Nor can I afford to replace it. So when I got tired of looking at the stains and tears I decided to do something about it. There was a lot of pinning and sewing, a lot of time spent on my knees on the floor, up and down to the sewing machine, a lot of pondering...

Now, $25.00 and a couple days of labor later, I have this...
It wasn't easy and I couldn't have done it without my mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and my mom. And I ran out of fabric so we had to really use our brains a few times. And it's not perfect (don't look too closely at the side panels!) but from the front you can't tell. It looks so much better in person than the picture. I love the color and the options I have now to decorate around it. I have some fun material for some pillows but I haven't gotten to them yet. Now that I have finished it I'm inspired to cover a chair and ottoman we got from a friend of Matt's moms. It has to be easier than this monstrosity! Although that probably won't happen until life gets into more of a routine around here.
And here are a couple of pics of my favorite little people...
Will's big sisters ADORE him. He is doing great except he hadn't gained enough weight at his 2 week appointment so I've been having to feed him a lot the past week. He goes in for a weight check tomorrow and hopefully he is up where he needs to be so I can actually get something done between feedings!!

Way to go on the couch makeover! I'm seriously impressed!!! It looks like a brand new couch...so so so nice. And the kids could not be cuter. It's nice to have Anna read to the kids now, right??!!?
How dang adorable are your kids?!? That picture of Anna reading to them is priceless and should be blown up to a large size. And I'm totally impressed with your slipcovering skills. I've been meaning to slipcover my own ever since Nick decided to try to "trim the dog hairs" on the couch, i.e. cut holes in one of the edge cushions. The problem is that we have a sectional, with is like 17 feet in total length, and I don't know that I'm up for that much slipcovering. But eventually I'm going to have to. Any tips??
Congratulations on the addition to your family! We were in FL for almost 3 weeks, so I'm catching up on news since I'm home. Will is adorable, and I love his name. It sounds so "royal". Hope to see you at church one of these weeks. Oh, I do not have your address or I would send you a card. And what a great make-over for your sofa. Looks wonderful.
The couch looks so great! I love it! I love the picture of the three of them on the couch. Sigh.
I love it! Im glad you didnt get rid of it, as one who has slept on that couch... :) and I love the pics of the kids all together on the couch. How lovely.
