A Piece of our History

Having been to so many places around the world I've wanted to somehow have that be part of our home. It is part of our story, who we are, how we got here. Eventually, in the far off future I'd love to have an office or other room dedicated to international decor. Little souvenirs we've collected, maps, globes, pictures, etc. But right now that just doesn't work. So instead, I stole an idea from one place and the means of doing it from another and have created a treasure!

At least a year or more has gone by since I discovered this:

This company, Red Letter Words, was featured on a blog I like to read. Well, it was a lightbulb moment and I thought that is what I need, except it needs to display all of the places we've been. Now let me just say, I'm all about supporting the work-from-home, etsy, creative geniuses out there. But sadly the budget doesn't allow me to indulge in their wares since they can be on the more expensive side. So I decided to try and figure out how to do it on my own. Which I did for all of two days and then promptly gave up.

Well, leave it to Aimee to figure out exactly how to do it. She has been my canvas painting tutor through all of this oh-so-worth-it project. So after some text-boxing, tracing, paint penning, and free-hand, I PROUDLY present our journey!

I. am. in. LOVE. I can look at those and instantly be reminded of lessons learned. Even while painting I found myself in the midst of memories and places God has brought me from. What a blessing my life has been!

This is where I have them hanging now, but I'm not sure I like them there. That is such a big, blank wall and I'm not quite sure what to put on the other side to balance it out. Or maybe I need to move the canvases all together and put matching something on each side. Or something over the TV. I don't know. One thing at a time!!

I. LOVE. IT. Don't you wanna make me one? i could give you a list of everywhere I've been. :) You could see if you could find frames at goodwill or something and makeover the frames. Then you could put one on either side of the tv. Or paint something big and wonderful to put on the right side of the TV to balance it out. I wish I could come and plaaaaay. ;)
