In my backyard...

So, those of you who know me well know that my new purpose in life is to fight and inform others about the crime of Human Trafficking. I am going to a Global Prayer Gathering hosted by The International Justice Mission in Washington D.C. this weekend, I researched the topic for one of my first papers in school, I recently saw a report about it on Dateline, my dear friend Karisse is actively doing her own work in LA, and I saw firsthand some of the effects of this horrific act in Thailand. My heart is starting to break for the women and children that are abused by this system. I was asking God, "What can I do? A little stay-at-home mom/wife/student. How do I help?" Well, getting to go to DC was a miracle in itself and proof to me that God truly does have a part for me to play. Then, last weekend, I found my niche. My friend Josh told me that a guy from the YWAM base here in Springs is starting a local outreach to trafficked women in the area. And I was like what? Where, how? He told me that in Colorado one does not need a license to become a massage therapist, and so women are trafficked in to work at "massage parlors"; right here under my nose. I am so pumped. I know that God is going to show me ideas next weekend. I am going to talk to my pastor and his wife about setting up something through our church. Wow...God is all about us little moms who are willing to be used! I will be posting more as time goes on about how and what; but in the meantime, please pray for me. I want to be used, I want to see change, I want to see hearts healed!

I realize we are no longer friends, but I had to commnet. First, because I think you rock!!! And second, because I watched a movie on Lifetime about human trafficking (I know, first New Kids and now Lifetime movies, I totally get why we can't be friends!) and I sobbed the whole way through. Perhaps it is because I have daughters now and so I see a little bit of them in all these helpless girls and it makes my heart break. Yeah you for taking action. You are my new hero!
