Slacking...

I have realized that it has been two weeks since I last posted on trafficking! Last week was too hectic with Thanksgiving and family...and well this week, I can't believe it is already Friday! So here I am, a day late, but with something to write about anyways!

I have been reading a book called A Crime So Monstrous: Face-to-Face with Modern-Day Slavery by E. Benjamin Skinner. It is deep. I am a bit frustrated at myself at how long it is taking me to get through this thing. I have been busy, but this book is also full of history and details. Not only does it give the authors first person accounts of meetings with pimps and traffick victims, but he goes into depth in each country talking about the history and how slavery came to be in that country. He also talks a lot about the past and present presidents and their part in fighting trafficking. He visited over twelve countries and interviewed over 100 slaves, slave dealers, and survivors. I've only read through Haiti and half of Sudan. Over all the book is good. It is his first book so he seems to jump around some and I can get lost, but the information is excellent and his accounts with real people are heart-breaking. I do not think I would recommend it as the first book you read about trafficking, but if you are interested in some deeper info. I would say this has it.
