Start Spreading the News...

...I'm leaving today...New York, New York!

My husband IS THE MAN!

With a few smooth moves he was able to get our kids a babysitter (Thank-You Zooks!) and inform me at 9:30 pm on Saturday night that we were going to New York City for Mother's Day! We quickly packed, jumped in the car, drove about 2 hours to a random spot in New Jersey and slept in a hotel. Sunday morning we awoke and drove the remaining 45 minutes to the greatest city in these United States! I have a love affair with New York. If I was single I would live there. This was my 5th trip there and I'm already trying to figure out when I can go back.

Having gone enough times we are over the touristy stuff. Rockefeller, Times Square, Empire State Building...still fun to see, but let me get lost in Central Park or the Upper West Side and I'm in heaven. We got there and found parking (free on Sundays!) around 8:30. We roamed around and found a lovely hole-in-the wall bagel shop and had THE best breakfast sandwiches! A great thing about NYC restaurants is that they are all small and cramped. You are either sitting against the window or out on the sidewalk...which is perfect for people-watching!

Another favorite things...brownstones! I love these houses!

We then found a fab flea market,

roamed around Central Park and watched more people,

ambled down to the The Plaza (always a favorite landmark)...the Mac store was there...

and then did the one touristy thing I still hadn't done...had lunch at Serendipity 3. This cute, crazy little restaurant was featured in the movie Serendipity (great movie!) and is famous for their Frrrozen Hot Chocolate which I can now say is divine! YUM! Definitely a new favorite place to go in NY!

After watching a street painter we headed back towards our car and found a farmers market. Purses, sunglasses, and jewelry galore, not to mention some fab food. A must do when I go back with females. Can I just say, my favorite thing about this city is the food. There is so much to choose from and it is ALL good! I could spend my time and money just restaurant hopping.

It was an excellent Mother's Day, complete with a little voice mail from Anna telling me HMD and to have a good time. Of course, my legs and feet are tired and sore after all of the city blocks but it was worth it!

Andrea, Looks like a total blast. I've always wanted to try their frozen Hot Chocolate. I've never been to NY but want to go soon. How far are you living from NY?
Happy mother's day1

I am so happy for you (and so very jealous-having never been to New York ever!). It looks like you had such a splendid time. What a nice little husband! Good work!
