And did I happen to mention how good it is? You just pop that little top, strain it into a pitcher, chill, and enjoy. All those good poly-phenols without the crap preservatives! Take that Alton Brown!!
So here is how you do it:
I ordered the grapes from a local store here so you'd have to find out what stores in your area would get you some. I got one box, which made about 20 jars (6 is a gallon). I think next year I'll do two because now I'll have to ration it out over the year. Anyways, I think someone said a box is 15 lbs. You have to rinse them and pull them off the vines. Then you put 2 cups of grapes and 1/2 cup of sugar into the jar. Fill it with hot water, give it a stir, put on the lid and ring, and boil in the canning pot for 10 minutes. Then it has to sit and seal or something, not sure about all the details yet. All I know is that I look forward to cracking these babies open!

Okay, that sounds a lot easier than the way my parents used to do it. They had some complicated contraption that like compressed all the juice out, and then there was a tube that the boiling hot grape juice came out of, and let me just say that getting scalded by grape juice is no bueno. Anyway, I'll have to try it. I did salsa last year, and I'll NEVER do it again--too much chopping involved.
way to go lady!
That will be me someday. I am willing it to be so. Everyone around me has been canning for years, and I feel pathetic never having even attempted it. You are my hero.
way to go girl!! I can relate to the satisfaction. Before you know it you'll be canning just about anything! hahaha. Hope you guys are doing well.
Surely you've done SOMETHING since you canned this? :) I wanna know what that something is... :)
