Here we go...back to school pictures! 3rd grade and Kindergarten. It's craziness to think that I have two kids in school. Does this mean I'm getting old? Eek! We had Back-To-School Night last week and met teachers, saw classrooms, and counted sleeps until Monday morning. Outfits were picked and excited girls couldn't sleep Sunday night. And here we are, embarking on a new year.
Once Will realized what we were doing he insisted on being in the pictures. He'd slide up next to them and when I'd tell them to say cheese you'd hear his little "che." Always gotta be in on the action!
Reports we good when they got home yesterday. Libby will have her first real day without me today so she is very excited. She wasn't very impressed that we only got to go for an hour yesterday. : ) You can tell that 3rd grade is a turning point at our school. Centers (kind of like free-time) have been replaced with homework agenda books. She's leaving behind some of the fun of early education and heading into more responsibility. All in all we are very excited and I am super happy with both of their teachers. Should be a great year!!

And while kids were schooling, mom had her own new adventure: canning peaches. Yum. My friend from church came over and we attempted to do two bushels of peaches. It was a lot of work, but fun to learn. I think there are a couple of different ways to do it but these seemed to turn out well. All I know is that my lids sealed and that is a good sign!
I got 14 quarts canned and 6 pints that I just froze to use for smoothies. I think we also got 7 of her quarts canned before she had to go home and meet her boys on the bus. Quite successful for a novice! But now I wonder how long I wait before I dig into those bad boys. It seems illegal to open them up before November so that they last all winter!

Ok, we really need to start shopping at different stores! O has the same backpack!
I said it before and I'll say it again, your kids are so stinkin' cute! Hope the girls have a great year at school. Good work on the peach canning, they are a beautiful sight. And, yes, you do not open the jars until November :) Remember, fresh peaches are still available at the produce stands.
